Define. Defy. Dismantle.

The Alumni of Color Conference (AOCC) takes place annually at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The conference aims to inspire and transform education by convening scholars, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students concerned with issues of race, class, and education. AOCC was launched by a cadre of dedicated HGSE students to bring awareness to educational issues impacting communities of color.

This year’s AOCC theme, “Define. Defy. Dismantle. Forging Our Legacy Through Activism” reflects our desire to expose the roots of structural oppression and to elevate ideas for dismantling those structures in and through education. By highlighting the roots of structural inequities, various methods of resistance, and tools to deconstruct oppressive systems, AOCC 2017 will move attendees to strengthen their actions for social justice. AOCC presents a great opportunity for all attendees to learn, leverage, and exchange strategies for achieving equity and social justice in, and beyond, the classroom.
